Political Daniel

Daniel was disapointed when I got home from work yesterday... Mama voted for the wrong guy. Why would you vote for him when you could vote... well, watch for yourself.

If you haven't seen it yet, Michal (and I... kind of) are keeping a new blog on the renovation of our new (old) house.

Candlebox-Far Behind

Just so all you older brothers know... Candlebox will be playing at the Bluebird on May 22. I saw them about 6 years ago and it was pretty nostalgic... not a bad show if I remember correctly. Here is a walk down memory lane...

Not you, Crum!

or, Aunt Cookie and the Drome Racer of Death...

I know Pop sent this out to most of you, but I thought it should be posted here for posterity's sake. The strange thing is I have this vague feeling that somehow I knew that Aunt Cookie was a daredevil but I had supplanted it with an image of a gentle lady riding around on a Goldwing.

Things that annoy me

I'm not Peter. I'm not a film critic. But there are certain things that, when I notice them, really annoy me.

Studios have been trying a lot of things lately to get more people interested in more films. Pre-releasing movies on iTunes before they're in the theater, viral marketing campaigns, etc. How then, in this era of media and public saturation and scrutiny does this happen: A new, A-list film (if Nick Cage really is A-list) releases a clip from the film, something to wet appetites and it has, to my untrained eye, a glaring cinematic mistake...

Did you catch it? It's called match-on-action. In the first shot the detective, played by that grumpy looking guy, is opening his folder (you can see it's partly open) and in the second shot (after the cut) it is closed again.

This is such a simple thing to edit correctly and it's such a simple thing to not put in the one clip that you release for promotion. My dream of becoming a Hollywood editor is alive again.

Watch for yourself here.

Baby Update

We're still awaiting the arrival of our son. After a visit to the doctor on Tuesday this week we were told that it's a strong possibility that Emily with have a C-section this coming week (probably sometime on Monday the 17th after our 10:30 am appointment). I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, listen to this new song by The Shins.

Merry Christmas!

My classes are over for the year, and I finally got out to a movie last night. Head over to my blog to read all about it. Right now I'm taking a short break from your Christmas presents. Do you see all those little pieces all squished together in the image above? That's the entire hour and sixteen minutes of Dlog goodness which will soon be coming your way.

PS. Even though I got slighted out of seeing the "Dark Knight Rises" Prologue, Dumb Dumb Dog, Edwardo and I have completed The Dlog Prologue, and you won't need to search for bootleg copies to see this masterpiece.

BC OnLine No More

So today I got a letter in the mail (hand delivered with signature confirmation) telling me that if I didn't change the URL for my blog a foreign nation would sue me.

No joke. Do not laugh.

So now, after a little consideration I have decided to actually comply and change the URL for my blog. It is no longer bconline.blogspot.com (which would be so obviously confusing for people from a certain country that I can't believe it has taken this long for them to complain) to bencrum.blogspot.com.

Not that I am actually posting anything there anymore... just FYI.

sykecow.com for latecomers

This week in my Physics lab I must determine the speed of sound here at my home in Colorado, which by the way varies constantly, and is different than the speed of sound wherever you are. I posted the picture above simply because it's probably one of the coolest pictures ever taken. On a side note, if you haven't been there yet, head over to sykecow.com

Up on the roof.

While going through some old papers (looking for Syke drawings) I came across this:
