Res-o-lut-ions

Every year I have the same problem with "New Year's Resolutions." I think of a really good one around February 10th.

But, looking back on the weeks prior to this discovery, I realize that I've already broken it many times. Examples of this include not eating chocolate or not watching movies or not talking in-depth about the new Harry Potter book before it comes out.

The last few years I have resolved not to make any resolutions. That didn't get me very far. I was disqualified from the start.

So this year, I'm just not going to resolve. At all.

Keeping a resolution can be very satisfying. That is why I recommend making a resolution you know you will be able to keep--in addition to its being good for you. My resolution for this year is the same as for the past two years--and I have kept it faithfully, although tempted on occasion by my family. My resolution is not to eat at McDonalds. I have gone into McDonalds (to use the restroom), but only in a dire emergency.
I save myself from inferior cuisine and from paying for food I could prepare for less (and enjoy more) if I fixed it myself--all with the satisfaction of keeping a resolution.

Maybe someone should resolve to slip Mom a "Dub" when she isn't looking.
