Two-for-Tuesday (Wednesday Edition)
I've been out of the writing and reviewing game for a while but I heard something the other day that is forcing me back in. In this edition of 'Two-for-Tuesday' (the Wednesday, June 27 edition) we listen to the greatest singing duo, S&G, and one of the best bands of the last decade, Mumford & Sons.
This isn't really a fair machup, but, it'll be interesting to see who wins. Technically, it's not even a true 'vs' since Paul Simon sings on the Mumford version but Mumford makes the song their own and inject their own flare enough to make it stand-out from the original.
Take a listen:

Political Daniel
Daniel was disapointed when I got home from work yesterday... Mama voted for the wrong guy. Why would you vote for him when you could vote... well, watch for yourself.

If you haven't seen it yet, Michal (and I... kind of) are keeping a new blog on the renovation of our new (old) house.

Candlebox-Far Behind
Just so all you older brothers know... Candlebox will be playing at the Bluebird on May 22. I saw them about 6 years ago and it was pretty nostalgic... not a bad show if I remember correctly.
Here is a walk down memory lane...

Not you, Crum!
or, Aunt Cookie and the Drome Racer of Death...
I know Pop sent this out to most of you, but I thought it should be posted here for posterity's sake. The strange thing is I have this vague feeling that somehow I knew that Aunt Cookie was a daredevil but I had supplanted it with an image of a gentle lady riding around on a Goldwing.

Things that annoy me
I'm not Peter. I'm not a film critic. But there are certain things that, when I notice them, really annoy me.
Studios have been trying a lot of things lately to get more people interested in more films. Pre-releasing movies on iTunes before they're in the theater, viral marketing campaigns, etc. How then, in this era of media and public saturation and scrutiny does this happen: A new, A-list film (if Nick Cage really is A-list) releases a clip from the film, something to wet appetites and it has, to my untrained eye, a glaring cinematic mistake...
Image 1 - 00:17

Image 2 - 00:20

Did you catch it? It's called match-on-action. In the first shot the detective, played by that grumpy looking guy, is opening his folder (you can see it's partly open) and in the second shot (after the cut) it is closed again.
This is such a simple thing to edit correctly and it's such a simple thing to not put in the one clip that you release for promotion. My dream of becoming a Hollywood editor is alive again.
Watch for yourself here.
*End of Rant*
